Case studies

"I’m currently touring with electronic soul band Honne, and have been travelling the world with them for three years. We’ve played prestigious festivals such as Glastonbury, Latitude, Leeds Festival and BBC Big Weekend in the UK and – further afield – Coachella, Seoul Jazz Festival and Austin City Limits."

Drummer Duayne Sanford performs at top music festivals across the world – from Glastonbury to Coachella to the Seoul Jazz Festival – and Lewisham Southwark College has played a key part in his success.

Having been a student in the College’s Music Department ten years ago, Duayne went on to win a scholarship to study for a BSc Music Technology degree at the University of East London and – while on his degree course – began to build his profile in the session world as a drummer.

Now in high demand worldwide, Duayne has worked with acclaimed artists and famous names like Izzy Bizu, Zak Abel, Devlin, Speech Debelle, Rita Ora and Bridgette Kelly.

Duayne’s success has also brought him to the attention of leading manufacturers in the music world, and he is endorsed by Yamaha, Sabian, Remo, Vater and Protection Racket.
