GCSE Programmes

Studying in our modern campus in SE1, learners who join the GCSE Programme at Southwark College study a mix of Biology, Chemistry and Physics as well as English and Maths. if required.

The programme consists of up to five GCSEs is suitable for 16–18-year-olds or adults. Those who are 19 or older could also choose to study individual GCSEs in:

  • Science: Biology, Chemistry and Physics
  • English and/or Maths

Now more than ever, the importance of scientists is paramount to our world. The GCSE science programme will support you to learn how to apply scientific principles and analyse forensic evidence, as well as develop key laboratory techniques.

Benefitting from extensive science laboratories and classrooms, you will learn through the guidance of expert teachers and support from a personal tutor during the course. The programme offers distinct qualifications and is especially suitable for learners looking to pursue further scientific study.

Upon successful completion of this one-year Level 2 programme, you could progress to Level 3 qualifications, such as vocational diplomas or A-Levels.

    GCSE chemistry will teach you to develop an understanding of the principles of chemistry and then builds on this knowledge looking at the chemistry of the elements organic chemistry physical chemistry and chemistry in industry. This course is ideal for those wanting to go on to progress into a chemistry-related course or even just purely for knowledge.

  • GCSE Combined Science

    GCSE Combined Science is a one-year intensive course that enables students to gain a good foundation of knowledge and skills in biology, chemistry, and physics at GCSE level. Students will achieve a total of three GCSEs at the end of this qualification. Scientific understanding is changing our lives and is vital to the world's future prosperity. Students will learn essential aspects of the knowledge methods processes and uses of science.

  • GCSE Triple Science

    GCSE Triple Science will give you the opportunity to develop a range of skills in the applied science sector. You will develop important transferable skills such as working with others and research skills. You will also be able to develop your interest in science through topics such as measuring waves and investigating a crime scene.
