This course comprises four units focusing on essential skills and knowledge for working in the private security industry. Unit 1 covers various topics including Working in the Private Security Industry Private Legal Aspects Health and Safety for Private Security operators Fire Safety Awareness Emergency Procedures Communication Skills and Customer Care. Unit 2 covers Working as a Door Supervisor emphasising Behavioural Standards Civil and Criminal Law Searching Arrest Drugs Awareness Recording Incidents and Crime Scene Preservation Licensing Law and Emergency Procedures. Unit 3 focuses on Conflict Management for The Private Security Industry addressing Avoiding Conflict and Reducing Personal Risk Defusing Conflicts Resolving and Learning from Conflicts and the Application of Communication Skills and Conflict Management for Door Supervisors. Unit 4 introduces Physical Intervention Skills for The Private Security Industry and Need-to-Know Legislation.

Entry Requirements
Minimum Level 1 Functional Skills English and good working knowledge of ICT. Learners need to be 19+ before 31/08/2024 in receipt of benefits and will be subject to a criminality check.
Assessment Method
Mix of paper-based portfolio observations and online exams.
Aims of the course
By the end of the course applicants will have developed an understanding of the following themes the main characteristics of the Private Security Industry the importance of safe working practices drug-misuse legislation recognising assessing and reducing conflict physical intervention and emergency First Aid at work.
