Young student musicians from Southwark College collaborated with Morley College Music students to deliver a live performance for Morley's Christmas production for the local community in Southwark.
During the show, the audience enjoyed a lively, festive performance provided by the students who showed their versatility, skills and talent in playing different genres and multiple instruments.
Each group had its unique style and personality, ranging from rock to pop, hip-hop to R&B, performing their rendition of classics such as In the Air Today by Phill Collins and their own compositions. The performance allowed music students to gain confidence and stage presence whilst also giving them the ability to enhance their collaboration skills.
Kiko Johnson, a Level 2 Music student at Southwark College, said: "I've always loved performing because it allows me to build on my confidence and skills in performing in front of a live audience. Although I was nervous at the start of my performance, I channelled my training and performed to the best of my ability. I enjoyed collaborating with other students and performing live."
Southwark College Vice Principal Scott Peasey said: "Southwark College places great importance on fostering creativity and self-expression, considering events like this as an essential element of the college's culture.
"It's wonderful seeing our students express themselves through music and participate in creative activities. Their passion and drive are inspiring, and we look forward to seeing our students grow in their chosen fields and continuing to support them through their academic journey, assisting them in developing themselves, their aspirations, and pursuing their desired careers."
