Motivational speaker, entrepreneur, and former Apprentice finalist Adam Corbally recently hosted an exciting and interactive session as part of the Business, IT, and Service Industries Skills Conference.
Adam took centre stage to deliver his renowned Apprentice Enterprise Day to students, designed to help students enhance their creative thinking, teamwork, resilience, and entrepreneurial skills in a fun and engaging way.
Known for his ability to ignite passion and confidence in young people, Adam has had an inspiring journey from market trader to market leader, and the event began with a motivational speech from Adam in which he spoke about his young life and early career through to his involvement in the business reality show and his present-day career.
Students were then tasked with creating their very own apps, reflecting the growing importance of technology in today’s world. The challenge required participants to design an app to solve real-world problems, support mental and physical health, or boost productivity. Students embraced the challenge wholeheartedly, offering their visions of what the world needs in 2025.
The students dove into the challenge, working in teams to brainstorm ideas, develop concepts, and bring their app ideas to life. This hands-on exercise taught students valuable skills such as creative thinking, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership, all crucial for success in today’s business world.
One of the highlights was Adam's mini masterclass on presentation and communication skills, which boosted students' confidence as they prepared to pitch their app ideas to the group. Many students, who initially felt nervous about public speaking, found new-found confidence and delivered impressive presentations that showcased their creativity.
Adam Corbally said, “Listening skills, creative thinking skills, public speaking skills all wrapped into one brilliant day. It’s been a really, good, fun day and I cannot wait to visit Southwark College again.”
The Enterprise Day wasn't just about developing business ideas but about preparing students for the future. Adam’s session helped them reflect on their career aspirations, the importance of education, and the skills they need to succeed in the modern workplace.
The event reinforced the importance of resilience, creative thinking, and collaboration, all while having fun and gaining hands-on experience that will benefit them in their personal and professional lives.
