Southwark College recently held a successful Careers Fair part of the Flying Start induction programme, transforming the College’s atrium into a space where students connected with universities and businesses to explore future opportunities. The event offered students valuable insights into different career and higher education paths, helping them make informed decisions about their next steps.

The fair brought together representatives from various industries and universities, allowing students to learn about the skills and qualifications required in different fields. For those considering higher education, university representatives were available to discuss course options and how further study could support their career goals. Additional workshops on resume building, interview skills, and job search strategies provided practical advice to help students prepare for employment.

A highlight from the event was hearing from Southwark College alumni, who shared their career journeys and offered valuable advice. Their success stories served as inspiration, showing current students what they could achieve with determination and the right support.

Southwark College is committed to empowering students through events like the Careers Fair part of the NCG Guarantee, which provide the tools and connections to succeed. By fostering relationships with potential employers and educators, the College helps ensure students are prepared for the future.

Scott Peasey, Vice Principal at Southwark College, said: "We are pleased to have welcomed businesses and universities representatives to our Careers Fair to meet our students and share information, advice and guidance on the future paths available to them after college. At Southwark College, we are committed to supporting our students in achieving their goals and providing them with opportunities to make an informed choice."

The Careers Fair was a fantastic opportunity for students to take a proactive step towards their futures, and the college looks forward to hosting more events to support their development.

Southwark College's Careers service also provides support for students with CVs and personal statements, as well as guidance and information to help them achieve their future goals and aspirations. For more information on the support available, visit southwark.ac.uk/careers.
